Our News NE, September 9: The Sivasagar Zila Kavi Sanmilan today observed the death anniversary of ‘Patharar Kavi’ Ram Gogoi, the founder of the Sadau Asom Kavi Sanmilan. At a programme organised at the office of the Sivasagar Zila Kavi Sanmilan, senior journalist Manoj Barthakur, former presidents of the district poets’ association Brajen Das and Mukul Nath, and present president Hemanta Rajkhowa, along with others present, lit ceremonial lamps in front of the portraits of Ram Gogoi and recently deceased fellow member Umesh Gogoi. After observing one minute of silence, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hemanta Rajkhowa. Speaking on Ram Gogoi’s poetry, literary pensioner Bijoy Ravi Das, noted poet Haren Gogoi, senior journalist Manoj Barthakur, distinguished writer Haren Chandra Nath, essayist Mukul Nath and Babul Bora delivered their views. Gokul Gogoi, Suwansing Gam and Hareja Begum also recited poems at the programme. The programme was conducted by Pranjal Abir Das, secretary of the Sivasagar Zila Kavi Sanmilan. Members of the Kavi Sanmilan from different parts of Sivasagar, including Joyjyoti Gogoi, Biju Barthakur, Prasanta Borgohain and Rajdeep Barua, were present at the event.
